Axis joins Microsoft for Startups, accelerating the AI front desk for independent healthcare.

Axis HQ, Inc., the San Francisco-based team building the digital front desk for independent dental and primary care clinics, has been accepted into the Microsoft for Startups program — bringing Azure infrastructure, security tooling, and enterprise compliance support behind every call Ava answers.
For independent practices — the 180,000 clinics in the US with fewer than fifteen providers — the front desk is usually one or two people drowning in phone calls, intake paperwork, and insurance portals. When they can't keep up, patients go elsewhere and revenue leaks. Axis is the system that handles the phone, the schedule, the intake, and the insurance — so the humans at the practice can focus on the patients standing in front of them.
Joining the Microsoft for Startups program gives Axis access to the Azure platform that already powers a meaningful share of US healthcare infrastructure, alongside Microsoft's security engineering resources and go-to-market support. For Axis customers, this means the same product they use today — strengthened by enterprise-grade scaffolding from day one.
“Independent practices deserve infrastructure that works as well as what hospital systems run on. Microsoft for Startups gives us the platform to deliver that — without compromising on HIPAA, security, or the things that actually matter when you're handling a patient's call.”
Ava, the voice of Axis, answers every inbound call around the clock — in each practice's voice, inside its BAA perimeter, live in two weeks. Axis writes into existing practice management systems, so no patient database leaves the clinic.
Axis is currently onboarding independent dental and primary care practices for paid pilots. Interested clinics can request a demo at cal.com/axis-founders/30min.
