Axis Partnership
with AWS.

Axis's voice and SMS infrastructure runs on AWS under an executed Business Associate Agreement — the same HIPAA-grade perimeter every Ava call lives inside.

Axis
AWS Partner Network

Axis, the operating layer for the front desk of independent outpatient clinics, runs every Ava call on Amazon Web Services under an executed Business Associate Agreement. The BAA covers every AWS service in Axis's stack — voice ingest, transcription, transcript storage, audit logging — so PHI stays inside a HIPAA-compliant perimeter from the moment the call rings to the moment the transcript is filed back into the practice's PMS.

Healthcare-grade compliance isn't a feature Axis bolts on later. It's the foundation. Every call recording is encrypted with AES-256 at rest and TLS 1.3 in transit. Access logs are retained for seven years. PHI redaction runs automatically on every transcript before it's surfaced in the dashboard. None of that is possible without a cloud that takes HIPAA seriously — and AWS is the standard the rest of US healthcare runs on.

01Two clouds, one perimeter.

Axis runs dual-cloud: AWS as the primary, Microsoft Azure as the failover and AI-services lane. Executed BAAs sit on both sides, so a failover never crosses an unsigned boundary. Every vendor in the call path — voice infrastructure, language models, storage — is contractually inside the practice's HIPAA perimeter before a single call is taken.

For an independent dental or primary care practice, the operational reality is simple: same Ava, two redundant clouds, zero patient data leaving the BAA. The complexity sits inside our stack, not on the practice owner's desk.

02Why AWS for healthcare AI.

AWS HealthLake, Amazon Transcribe Medical, and AWS KMS-backed encryption aren't novelties — they're the substrate that powers most modern healthcare software, from EHR vendors to telehealth networks. Building on the same foundation means every Axis customer inherits a security and reliability posture that took AWS itself two decades to ship.

The result for a practice owner: when Ava answers a call at 11 PM on a Saturday, the rest of the stack — failover, compliance, audit, redundancy — already happened, hours before the phone rang.

About Axis

Axis is the operating layer for the front desk of independent outpatient clinics. Our V1 product, Ava, handles inbound calls, scheduling, intake, insurance verification, recall, and no-show follow-up — voice and SMS in one place, HIPAA compliant, deployed in two weeks. Axis runs on AWS and Microsoft Azure with executed BAAs on both clouds. Serving independent dental and primary care practices across the US.
